Introduction

The archive runs in a chronological sequence and starts withearly apprentice work and pieces produced during studies at Leeds College of Art 1959-63.

The first years of professional activity are represented by design projects and competitions and also commissions flowing from ecclesiastical sources, corporate bodies and private individuals.

Sculptural commissions and early involvement with the design of special achievement awards marked a major change of design activity. This experience also involved working with a wider variety of metals and materials other than silver.

A significant body of work, produced in close collaboration with graphic designers, architects and art directors and spanning many design disciplines is a feature of this mid-career period of activity.

Projects can be grouped together for reference either by their choice of theme, their design focus, their application or by their relationship of material and location.
